Our History

Established in 1972, PASCON has deep roots in the Midlands of South Carolina. As a family-owned business, our commitment to the community is a personal one. We offer 24/7 service so that we can be there for you when you need us.

The Beginning Of PASCON and P&S Construction

The company started in the early 1970s as Murray Sand and Gravel Company, later becoming P&S (Puryear and Spradlin) Construction Company. With just a backhoe and a dump truck, the company's initial service offering was residential driveway paving. Over time, P&S expanded its capabilities to include service main installs, vacuum truck services, right-of-way maintenance, and more, serving the Southeast from Alabama to North Carolina.

In the 1980s, P&S purchased the first color video inspection truck in South Carolina - cutting-edge technology for its time. The fleet continued to expand in response to the growing need for pressure truck services. With the encouragement of SCDHEC, P&S began responding to emergency environmental cleanups utilizing vacuum trucks and other equipment in new innovative ways. The grading division of the company found a niche in tennis courts, communication tower foundations, and commercial parking lots.

The Growing Years

By the 1990s, P&S had acquired a roll-off truck and six dumpster containers. With the growing demand for industrial work, Palmetto Industrial Services was formed in 1995, and in 1996, PASCON, LLC was officially established. PASCON introduced the 10-yard Handi-Can to the Columbia, SC area. In 1996, it built a permitted sludge solidification facility in Gaston, SC.

In the early 2000s, the conglomerate experienced tremendous growth, which presented new and exciting opportunities. They decided to sell Palmetto Industrial Service, the solidification facility, and the grading and paving equipment in order to reinvest and expand the core businesses. In 2006, PASCON moved into a state-of-the-art facility on 13 acres in Lexington, SC. LEED Recycling was being mandated on many area jobs, and PASCON identified and fulfilled the need for a local C&D recycling facility with the purchase and construction of a state-of-the-art facility on an adjoining 12 acres of property.

PASCON and P&S Construction Today

In the 2010s, PASCON entered the front-load garbage market to service commercial customers. By this time, the roll-off fleet had grown to more than 15 trucks with over 800 containers. P&S Construction had grown to operate more than 8 vacuum trucks, 6 jetter trucks, 2 TV inspection units, and multiple service trucks equipped with excavators. PASCON discontinued the portable restroom division and recycling operations.

In the 2020s, PASCON divested its front-load division after successfully growing the fleet to eight trucks and more than 1,000 containers.

Today, PASCON and P&S Construction continue to grow as third-generation companies, holding true to their legacy of top-notch customer service.
